Unique Learning Opportunities: Business Education & FBLA Club

WAVE business teacher and FBLA club advisor Dawn Jameson provided some truly unique learning opportunities for students this spring.

On Monday, April 15, Wausau West’s Mock Trial teams and Business Law students along with WAVE Future Business Leaders of America students participated in Madison’s Court with Class. The students witnessed a case that dealt with Miranda Rights and hearsay statements. Six of the seven judges were present. After the court case, Judge Ann Walsh Bradley and Judge Ziegler talked with our students. The students then toured the Capitol.

On Wednesday, April 17, 38 Wausau West Accounting, Business, and Marketing students (along with WAVE FBLA members Josh and Jared Breunig) traveled to Milwaukee to learn about careers in Accounting and Marketing. The field trip was funded by a grant through the Wisconsin Certified Public Accountants and included tours at Miller Park and the Harley Davidson Museum. The students were also treated to a Brewer Game.

On April 24, Supervisory Special Agent Scott Neville with Milwaukee FBI talked with students about cyber security and hate crimes. WAVE FBLA member, Alexis, was part of this presentation.
